A dentist’s role isn’t just cleaning teeth and looking for cavities. Dr. Marable is here to answer all of your questions regarding dental care and your oral health in general. This page contains some of the questions we’ve heard the most often, but if you can’t find the answers you’re looking for, feel free to call us.
I’ve been avoiding the dentist for years. Can you help?
We’ve seen plenty of patients who haven’t had regular dental checkups in a long time. No matter how many dental issues you might have suffered from in the meantime, you can rest assured that you’ll receive high-quality, judgement-free care from Dr. Marable, who is skilled in performing a wide variety of treatments for reversing even extensive cases of dental damage.
My child is really nervous about their appointment. What should I do?
Plenty of children are anxious about visiting the dentist, and there are even many adults who feel somewhat afraid whenever they arrive for an appointment. Such fears are perfectly understandable, and our patient team will do everything they can to help the more nervous members of your family relax. Don’t forget to ask about our options for sedation dentistry.
How often should I have a checkup?
The typical answer is that you should have at least one dental checkup every six months. This gives us plenty of opportunities to remove tartar before permanent damage is done in your mouth, and we can spot cavities and other dental problems before they become truly serious. Some patients might require more frequent visits depending on the state of their oral health.
Should I do something about the gap in my teeth?
Not only are gaps between your teeth very unattractive, but they leave space for bacteria and food debris to get caught. In general, closing these gaps is the best move for maintaining a clean, healthy smile. Cosmetic treatments such as direct bonding and porcelain veneers are good options for closing such gaps; get in touch with us to learn more about your options.
What does my tooth pain mean?
Dental pain can actually be linked to several different causes. Sometimes the tooth might be infected or cracked; other times it might be that the enamel protecting it has simply worn down. Regardless of the cause, you should get in touch with us if you experience any kind of tooth pain that lasts more than a couple of days so that we can determine the cause.
Can missing teeth be replaced?
Yes! Even if a permanent tooth can’t be replanted, there’s no need to let the space in your smile remain empty. One to three teeth in a row can be replaced with a dental bridge, while patients who have lost entire arches might need dentures instead. Dental implants should be strongly considered if you want to give your new teeth as much strength and stability as possible.
Is my dental insurance accepted at Fantastic Smiles?
While we don’t take dental HMOs, we will gladly accept most dental insurance plans. Our team can help you figure out the benefits you’ll enjoy under your specific plan, and they can answer any questions you might have about the process.
